Racing pundit John McCririck has shared his knowledge with STV ahead of the Grand National at Aintree on Saturday and backs Killyglen to win the race for glory.
As John explains, the big favourite with the bookies is 15/2 shot Synchronized, ridden by AP McCoy but it’s 78 years since the Cheltenham Gold Cup winner also finished first in the Grand National.
Last year’s winner Ballabriggs is heavily backed but is carrying extra weight and questions remain over what kind of performance can be expected.
John’s pick is from Northern Ireland. Killyglen fell at the fourth last a year ago when going well but has had a throat operation since and is “a fresh horse and a class horse” according to the expert.
John also runs through all the betting for the Scottish Cup semi-finals ahead of a huge weekend of sport.
