Edinburgh’s Alex Arthur returned to ring in style after a first round victory over Frenchman Mohamed Benbiou.
Arthur looked sharp and strong in his first fight after moving up to lightweight and came out strong with a powerful onslaught from the first bell.
The 30-year-old had Benbiou on the canvas after just 25 seconds.
A sharp jab and powerful body shots sent the Frenchman to the canvas for a second time.
Benbiou looked hurt and backed away from the aggressive Arthur who sent his opponent to the canvas for the third and final time after just one minute and 33 seconds into the first round.
After nine months out the ring following the loss of his WBO super-featherweight title against Nicky Cook, ‘Amazing’ Alex Arthur has returned and stamped his mark on the lightweight division, albeit against a questionable opponent.
Despite not having such time as to demonstrate his skill, Arthur maintained he is more comfortable having moved up a division and will now begin his quest to win his second world title.
“I just feel fantastic now,” he said.
“I look forward to getting back where I belong, to title fights
“I’m happy taking my time and I’m a very young 30-year-old…I’ll come back gradually and hopefully be fighting for a title some time next year.”
