Shane Mosley is confident he can capture the WBC welterweight title when he challenges undefeated Andre Berto for the title on January 30 in Las Vegas.
The bout was officially launched before the Manny Pacquiao-Miguel Cotto fight at the MGM Grand on Saturday night and former Cotto victim Mosley insists experience is on his side.
"Andre Berto's a good young fighter but he's bitten off more than he can chew with all the talking he's been doing," said WBA welterweight title holder Mosley 46-5 (39 KOs).
"I've forgotten more about the fight game than he knows and the world will see that in January."
Berto, 25-0 (19 KOs), said: "This is the fight I've waited my whole career for and now it's finally a reality.
"Shane Mosley made me chase him for a while, but he won't be able to run when we get into the ring on January 30, and I can't wait."
If Mosley can overcome Berto and capture the title, a unification bout with Pacquiao could be on the cards after the Filipino captured the WBO title from Cotto with a 12th round stoppage. With the victory Pac Man became the first fighter in history to secure world titles in seven weight divisions.
However, the new champion insists he has no interest in moving up yet again: "For me I think this is the last weight division I'm going to fight in and I think my trainer will be happy to hear that because 154 is too big for me and 147 is my regular weight.”
