The Hayemaker: David Haye not a big enough name for Harrison

Audley Harrison, the 2000 Olympic gold medallist, is targeting the Klitschko brothers in his bid to become the heavyweight world champion and maintained that David Haye is not a big enough name.

The Londoner must first overcome Albert Sosnowski in his bid to take the European title from the British-based Pole on April 9.

Harrison is focussed on his European challenge, but has revealed his world title ambitions to face WBC champion Vitali and IBF and WBO champ Wladimir. However, the man known as ‘A-Force’ has no interest in facing WBA title holder David Haye.

"The heavyweight division is desperately looking for marquee names and, no disrespect to David Haye, but no-one in the USA is talking about him.

"They're all talking about the Klitschkos and no-one is giving David Haye any play as a world champion so the guys I want to fight are the Klitschkos.

"If you get a chance against David Haye then people will say 'you now have to beat the Klitschkos', so if I beat Albert, I want the Klitschkos."

However, Harrison, who has been titled ‘Fraudley’ after failing to make a splash in the professional ranks following his Olympic success, maintained his immediate sights are set on Sosnowski’s Continental title.

"All I'm interested in at the moment is Albert Sosnowski and he will not give up that belt easily. The worst thing I could do is look past Albert. If I can't get past him then there's nothing in the future."

The 38-year-old, 26-4 (19 KOs), bounced back from his defeat to Martin Rogan in 2008 to win the Prizefighter contest which led him to his most recent title challenge.

He added: “I have a personal mission to be a world champion. Call me delusional or crazy but I call it reality."
