It remains to be seen whether David Haye will defend his WBA heavyweight title against Audley Harrison but the pair are certainly going head to head in a war of words. Following Haye’s outburst on Tuesday using Twitter, Harrison has responded with an aggressive tweet of his own whereby he claims he will knock the champion “out cold”.
Harrison, who vacated the European title he won from Michael Sprott in April, wrote: “Keep talking! You have your sidekick wasting our time working out a deal, yet you won't sign.
“[Tomasz] Adamek is cut and [Nikolai] Valuev is injured. Hope your not waiting for James Toney this weekend.
“You really are becoming a joke blood. You are in for a big surprise. My left hand will connect with your chin at some point and you will be OUT COLD. 30 chin-ups are not going to protect your chin. MAN UP and sign!”
HAYE v HARRISON:
Audley drew first blood in the media when he and his promoters confirmed that they had agreed to terms set by Haye for the fight, revealing the all-British showdown was set to take place at Manchester’s MEN Arena on November 13.
With both Klitschko brothers having signed on to fight elsewhere, Harrison insisted that he was the only logical opponent and the one with the most draw financially.
However, Haye lashed out at the 2000 Olympic gold medallist telling him: “Shut the F**k up Fraudley.
“If somehow we ever do fight, that career high pay day you crave won't cover your medical bills! Pipe down.....”
While pen has yet to be put to paper on the contracts, the back and forth between the two won’t distract from the fact that Harrison hasn’t the credentials to fight for the world title. The feuding rivalry which is being created between the two Londoners may be a desperate attempt to garner interest in an otherwise disappointing and mismatched world heavyweight title fight.
