Manny Pacquiao will face Antonio Margarito after the latter was awarded a boxing license in the state of Texas. The fight will take place on November 13 at Dallas Cowboys stadium.

Margarito had his California license revoked for using a plaster-like substance on his wraps prior to a fight with Shane Mosley in Los Angeles. Along with his trainer Javier Capetillo, his licence was revoked by the California State Athletic Commission and was upheld by other states.

However, having had their application turned down by both California and Nevada, the state of Texas granted Margarito a boxing license which allows him to go ahead with his planned showdown with pound-for-pound king Pacquiao.

Margarito, who hasn’t fought in the US since January 2009, told Associated Press: “I want to thank the state of Texas for granting me a boxing license, which enables me to continue my passion for the sport of boxing in the United States.

“I have dedicated my life to giving the fans of the sport entertainment and excitement. On November 13, this great opportunity will ultimately be fulfilled."

Officials in Texas announced the success of Margarito’s application in a statement on their website.

"After a thorough review of his application it was determined Mr. Margarito met the requirements of the Texas Combative Sports Act and Rules," Executive Director William Kuntz said.

"Based on the review of the above information, I have authorized the issuance of a license to Mr. Margarito."

Top Rank, who promotes both fighters, have announced the fight will be for the “world super welterweight championship”, expected to be the WBC title.
