Paul Cairney ended a summer of speculation by finally putting pen to paper on a two-year deal at Easter Road to join Hibernian.
Even as the midfielder walked out of Firhill carrying his haul of trophies after a clean sweep at the Partick Thistle player of the year night everyone had already resigned themselves to the fact he would be running out in Hibs green next season and each one knew what a big miss he was going to be.
In Cairney, Hibs have got themselves an energetic attacking midfielder, who will cover every blade of grass and will certainly chip in with his fair share of goals.
Indeed he was well into double figures last season including a hat-trick against Dundee at Dens Park in his penultimate game in red and yellow.
His goals have varied from tap-ins and penalty's to strike's in the top corner and Messi-esque dinks over Rab Douglas, indeed calmness around the box and cleanness of his strikes is a major reason why he has chipped in with so many goals.
He's not just all goals however; he will help provide for others and can pick out a pass.
Another positive with Cairney is his versatility, during his time at Firhill he has featured on the right, left and centre of midfield and latterly, in a role he excelled at, playing as part of a front three so Hibs have got a player they know they can play almost anywhere and get a shift from.
Don't think Cairney's talents are all attacking; he'll get back and help the defence and will always get stuck in.
He never shirks responsibility and always wants to be involved and get the ball and work hard for his team.
He certainly has all the attributes to be a success in the SPL and I think the Edinburgh club have got themselves a very good player who will most definitely have the Hibees excited.
