Brazilian defender Emilson Cribari has arrived in Scotland to attempt to win a deal with Rangers.

The former Lazio and Napoli centre-back was at Murray Park on Monday morning to meet with Rangers manager Ally McCoist and train with the first team squad.

McCoist is currently rebuilding his squad for this season and the next with an SFA registration embargo due to kick in next month. Having lost several first team players over the summer, the manager is keen to add experience to his squad and Cribari could be handed a chance at Ibrox.

The 32-year-old defender is without a club after leaving Cruzeiro at the end of last season. Previous to that spell in his homeland, Cribari had spent 13 years in Italy wher he played with Empoli, Udinese, Lazio, Siena and Napoli.

"We had him in for a couple of days, he's been training," McCoist said on Monday. "He's having a look around the place to see if he likes it.

"We would be very hopeful to get a deal done there."
