Steven Pressley has called on Scottish football chiefs not to sweep league reconstruction under the carpet.
The Falkirk manager is a major supporter of expanding the SPL and changing the set-up below the top flight.
While the ex-Hearts captain said it would be good just to be back playing matches again he hopes that the wind of change blowing through Scottish football would not die down following the decision to let Rangers start afresh in Division Three.
Pressley told the Scottish Sun: “I still hope there will be an expansion. I’ve been speaking about it for some time and I know people will be bored of me talking about it.
“But I think it is the way forward. The SPL could work on far reduced budgets if they were getting greater breathing space.
“I think they are genuine about it. The noises coming out of Hampden just now are that there will be change.
“I don’t want it to be swept under the carpet as we have experienced in years gone by. They have to move it forward.
“I think that over the next three or four weeks the game will settle down again and that will give time to clubs to focus on just playing football. After that, they will put their thinking caps on and make some much-needed change to the game.”
