Eddie May says the former West Bromwich Albion defender Pedro Pele will be a vital part of the Falkirk team. The Portuguese defensive midfielder was recommended to Falkirk by Tony Mowbray, who signed the player from Southampton for a fee of £1m in 2007 to play for West Brom.
The Cape Verde international was in-between clubs when signing the deal with Falkirk last week after being released from West Brom this summer following their relegation from the English Premier League.
Falkirk manager, Eddie May, is delighted to have the defender until the end of the season and thinks he will be a vital part of the team.
“He must be a decent player to play for Tony Mowbray’s team,” May said.
“He will be experience and quality, which is the main parts, and he will blend in very well with the team.
“I think overall, the season he is going to be there, he will show how good a player he is and the experience he has gained over the years, will be vital for Falkirk.”
Pele, who shares his name with the legendary Brazilian striker, will be not play as a forward but will be hoping to establish himself in the SPL as a decent defender.
“People who don’t know me, they are expecting a striker a number 10 here to score goals, but I’m not that sorry – I’m just a defender.”
