Celtic are aiming to sign Blackburn target Osman Chavez in the January transfer window according to reports from Sky Sports.

The sports channel says the Honduran international is in Glasgow training with Tony Mowbray’s team as his agent tries to secure a move from his current side Platense.

Central defender Chavez trained with Spurs in the summer but failed to secure a move, and was in Lancashire with Blackburn last week.

The English Premier League side are said to be keen to strike a deal but the player’s agent says he’s confident of a January arrangement with the Glasgow club.

"Osman is a very, very good player who has shown with Honduras he is capable of playing in Europe," said agent Barry McIntosh,

"Celtic already like what they have seen and we would think they will be keen on doing a deal.

"We are very hopeful of getting something done with Osman for January."

The Hoops are apparently keen on a loan move until the summer. Mowbray has struggled to find a central defensive pairing so far this season.

Current centre backs Stephen McManus and Gary Caldwell have failed to provide a solid partnership, conceding more goals than any other side in the SPL’s top six.
