Craig Levein has called on his Dundee United players to grab a win against Motherwell to add to victory over Celtic. The Tannadice outfit have been tagged as possible title challengers following their dramatic 2-1 win over Celtic last Sunday.
Levein had said after that win that he would not discourage his players from thinking big but he remained aware that a win against one of the Old Firm heightened expectations. The manager warned that to be successful, the team would have to follow good results with further wins.
"The reason the Old Firm have won so many championships is that they have shown remarkable consistency,” he said
"Now the challenge for the rest of us is to try and match that.
"For us, that means getting a result at Motherwell this weekend to build on Sunday's win over Celtic."
Jon Daly, scorer of Dundee United’s equaliser last week, will come up against a former team-mate in the shape of Motherwell boss Jim Gannon. The manager said he was wary of the threat posed by the player he knew as a young striker at Stockport.
"I know Jon really well," Gannon said.
"As the senior Irish player at the club, I took a lot of the younger Irish players under my wing.
"John made his debut at a very young age and went on to have a really good period at Stockport.
"He is back to trademark aerial dominance and scoring goals from set plays, so he is one player we are going to have to be fearful of."
