Celtic are continuing to look to the future by offering a trial to two highly-rated Czech youngsters. Tony Mowbray has had his scouts out ahead of the January transfer window and the club have already taken four young Hungarian players on trial.
Czech Republic Gambrinus Liga team FK Pribram have confirmed that 22-year old defender Jakub Stochl and 17-year old forward Antonin Fantis will travel to Glasgow for a trial period at Celtic’s Lennoxtown training base. Fantis has previously been on trial at the club and also trained with Juventus but, one year older, will return to Scotland in the hopes of landing a deal.
Celtic signed 18-year old centre-half Milan Misun from Pribram last December and are keen to take a closer look at the latest products from the Czech side’s youth system.
"Such an interest, not only of Celtic of course, is a big evaluation of the work in our club," Pribram chairman Jaroslav Starka told iDnes.cz.
"For instance, Fantis was trialled by Celtic a year ago. They were speaking of him highly but he was only 16 back then so it was better for him to go back to the Czech Republic and continue his career there.
"That is why we set up another trial for him. Moreover, they want to have a look at one of the most talented Czech stoppers, Jakub Stochl."
Celtic have been warned that they will need to act quickly to snap up the pair, with clubs from the Italian top-flight keeping a close eye on developments. The players’ agent Ondrej Chovanec confirmed that both players were on the radar of Serie A teams.
"Pribram are developing some very talented footballers," Chovanec said.
"For instance, Stochl is being tracked also by Catania while Fantis was tested by Juventus at the start of November."
FK Pribram were formed in 1996 from the merger of Pribram and Dukla Prague, whose former players include Juventus legend Pavel nedved.
