LONDON (Reuters) - Stoke City striker Ricardo Fuller was arrested after an incident at a nightclub in the early hours of Sunday, the Premier League club said on Monday.

Stoke confirmed the news that he had been arrested in the club in Hanley, near Stoke, on their website (www.stokecityfc.com).

Staffordshire Police said a 30-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of assault.

Fuller had earlier played in Stoke's 3-0 home win over Blackburn Rovers in a match marred by the death of a 30-year-old Blackburn fan who had been found unconscious in the Britannia Stadium.

A 25-year-old man from Preston was arrested in connection with that incident.
