Graeme Smith insists a Scotland recall is the furthest thing from his mind, despite giving himself every chance with his performances for Hibernian.
The uncapped Smith 26, has not been in a senior Scotland squad for three-and-a-half years, having received his last call-up for the European Championship qualifiers against the Faroe Islands and Lithuania in September 2006.
But while Smith would love to be involved in the match against Czech republic next month, he refuses to look that far ahead, saying: "My only focus is Hibs just now to be honest. Every player wants to represent their country and I'm no different."
He added: "If you're doing well for this club then I think other things may fall.
"But just now I want to hold down my place week in, week out and see where it takes me."
Smith watched Sunday's Euro 2012 qualifying draw, which saw Scotland grouped with champions Spain, and he will be cheering the team on if he is not involved in the campaign.
"I'm a Scotland fan, I saw the draw and I hope the boys go and do well," he said.
"We'll have the whole country behind the boys when they go out and eventually face up to the big teams."
