Laryea Kingston has lost his appeal against his red card in Hearts' Clydesdale Bank Premier League victory at Aberdeen.
The Ghana international was sent off in Saturday's 1-0 win at Pittodrie for a tackle on Dons midfielder Fraser Fyvie.
Half-time substitute Kingston had only been on the field seven minutes when he was shown red by referee Willie Collum.
The club appealed earlier this week and Collum today examined footage of the incident to determine whether he had been too harsh in dismissing Kingston.
But the official was "content" with the decision he took, meaning the player will miss Sunday's match at Dundee United.
Speaking shortly before the decision, manager Jim Jefferies said: "I've looked at it on the video a number of times.
"It shows clearly that Fraser Fyvie's leg's higher. If Kingston gets the ball, he would've got a bad one from Fyvie.
"So that was an accidental clash as far as I'm concerned."
Kingston's absence adds to Jefferies' selection headache.
Eggert Jonsson is also suspended this weekend, while the club have an entire starting XI out injured.
