Steve Lomas lauds his team’s character as they secure victory in Dingwall

Steve Lomas was full of praise for St Johnstone’s character as his ten-men secured a valuable away victory against Ross County.

Frazer Wright’s late header ensured all three points went back to Perth after Sam Morrow had cancelled out Liam Craig’s opener.

Rowan Vine had been sent off for Lomas’ men as they ended County’s 40-game unbeaten league run.

The Northern Irishman said: "It doesn't surprise me. The character of the squad is fantastic in adversity.

Lomas added: "Ross County kept coming at us and putting balls into the box and made our lads defend.

"We had a few hairy moments but we also had a chance which might have been over the line and that would have put the game out of sight at 2-0.

"The character of the team can never be called into question but I wouldn't like it to be so difficult. I'll not make my 40th birthday at this rate. It was a great victory."
