Young striker Conor Pepper brought Inverness Caledonian Thistle back into the match at Easter Road with a finish off the post.
The 18-year-old Republic of Ireland youth cap left countryman Alan Maybury sprawled on the turf as he bore down on goal to score.
It was the Dubliner’s second goal of the season after netting a last gasp equaliser at Hibs’ city rivals Hearts earlier in the campaign.
Manager Terry Butcher said: “He's a fantastic kid. He's chased a lost cause and got a goal, and a fantastic finish.
"He's been fantastic for us; he's now scored two goals in Edinburgh, set up Ross Draper to score against Celtic as well.
"He's got energy, and he's exciting, and we felt like putting him in today because he might give us something."
