European Super Cup: Atletico Madrid v Inter Milan live online

Monaco’s Stade Louis II stadium plays host to the European Super Cup final tonight and you can see all the action on STV Sport. Atletico Madrid face Inter Milan in the annual battle between the winners of the Europa and Champions League and the match will be streamed here from 7.30pm.

Inter go into the match fresh from picking up even more awards following their Treble success last season. At the Champions League draw on Thursday they completed a clean sweep of individual player awards that recognised their achievement in winning the Italian league, cup and the Champions League last season.

Julio Cesar was named goalkeeper of the year with Maicon took the defender’s award. Wesley Sneijder was named as the best midfielder and Diego Milito, scorer of two goals in the Champions League final was the forward of the year.

That strong spine remains for this year’s trophy defence and, surrounded by quality, the quartet will be looking to continue their winning ways against Atletico.

For the Spanish side, one name stands out clearly. Diego Forlan, architect of the Europa League final win over Fulham finally convinced the doubters of his talent with a sparkling World Cup. The Uruguayan will be the focal point of the Atletico attack but he will be ably supported by some class acts.

Argentine forward Sergio Aguero and Portuguese wide-man Simao Sabrosa will look to provide the service for Forlan but the beauty of Quique Sanchez Flores’ side is that they are more than the sum of their parts.

New Inter manager Rafa Benitez gets the chance to begin his reign with a trophy but he will also be aware that it will be the first opportunity for many to judge if he can keep the run of success going. Following Jose Mourinho is an unenviable task and having kept the side together, expectations will be high.

Neither of these sides have lifted the Super Cup before, offering an chance for both sets of players to write a new line in the history books. It promises to be a thrilling occasion and you can see every kick of the ball live on stv.tv/sport.
