Steven Doris will spend next week training with Championship club Birmingham City.
The Arbroath striker, who found the net in a Scottish Cup tie against Celtic back in December, has scored nine goals in 19 appearances this season.
Doris, a former St Johnstone trainee, joined the Second Division side from the Saints in 2009 and has netted 53 times in 108 games.
The 24-year-old also had a spell on loan at Montrose in the 2007/08 season.
Arbroath boss Paul Sheerin told the Daily Record of the trial: "Birmingham watched him a few times and saw him against Celtic. Now they want a closer look.
"He's been outstanding for the past few years and I'm surprised more Scottish clubs haven't had a nibble at him.
"He's good enough to step up and I know he won't let himself down when he goes to Birmingham."
