First Division league leaders Ross County's match with Partick Thistle has been postponed due to sleet and snow affecting Dingwall.

The club had hoped that a break in the weather would have allowed time to clear the Victoria Park pitch but subsequent snowfall meant that wasn't possible.

A statement on the club's website read: "Unfortunately the sleet and snow affecting Dingwall have forced the postponement of the match against Partick Thistle which was due to be played at Victoria Park today, Monday the 2nd of January.

"Whilst it is a great disappointment for everyone at the Club to see the first match of the New Year postponed, conditions at the Stadium as well concerns for those who would be travelling to the match there was no alternative.

"Whilst there had been optimism this morning when the snow stopped, subsequent heavy snow meant that the task of clearing the pitch had just become impossible.

"Although it was out of our hands, Ross County Football Club would like to apologise to both sets of fans for any inconvenience caused and thank them for their understanding and also wish everyone a Very Happy New Year."
