Dundee came from behind to earn a replay with SPL side Kilmarnock.
Steven Milne eaqualised seconds into the second half after Manuel Pascali had headed Kenny Shiels’ men into a half-time lead.
However the home side could have won the tie but Matt Lockwood’s penalty was saved by Cammy Bell.
Gary Irvine was first to test the visitors’ goal as the home side made a bright start.
At the other end Dean Shiels was unable to turn the ball home after good work by Heffernan down the left-hand side.
Dundee thought they had opened the scoring after fourteen minutes when Steven Milne slid the ball home however referee Stevie O’Reilly correctly ruled Ross Chisholm’s flick meant the striker was in an offside position.
Kilmarnock were struggling to find any sort of rhythm in the match but took the lead against the run of play around the half hour mark.
A corner from the left was missed by goalkeeper Rab Douglas and Killie captain Manuel Pascali was on hand to head home.
Barry Smith’s men equalised 21 seconds into the second period as Conroy’s cross was prodded home by Steven Milne.
The SPL side came close to retaking the lead minutes later but Rab Douglas did well to touch Garry Hay’s shot from the edge of the box over the crossbar.
The First Division side were handed a glorious chance to take the lead when Conroy was pushed in the box by Sissoko.
But Matt Lockwood’s weak effort was easily saved by Cammy Bell.
The game was now flowing from end to end with the hosts struggling with set pieces.
Pascali had another header from a corner which narrowly flew past the post.
Bell had to look smart to make a double save from Milne and Conroy with just over ten minutes to go.
But neither side could find a winner and they will now have to face each other again at Rugby Park on January 17.
