Aberdeen midfielder Fraser Fyvie wants to give the Dons fans something to celebrate this season by winning the Scottish Cup.

Around 3,000 fans saw Craig Brown’s men beat Second Division Forfar Athletic, just days after 4,000 fans travelled to see the team win 2-1 against Dundee United.

The club have been on the wrong end of cup upsets in recent seasons but Fyvie says it’s time to end the sixteen-year wait for silverware.

He said: “The fans have been absolutely unbelievable. They made the atmosphere at Tannadice last week incredible and they came down in their numbers to Forfar which we didn't expect.

"Obviously when you aren't winning you can't expect them to be happy but we are on a run at the moment and they are turning out in really good numbers, which helps us on the pitch.

"We want to go and win something this season as we haven't won anything in a while. We got to two semi-finals last season but we want to get our hands on a trophy this season."

Fyvie says Mohamed Chalali could play a big part in Aberdeen’s season after the striker hit his second goal in as many games.

He added: "I think he has taken a few months to adapt to the Scottish game.

"He was playing in Greece before so it is a different game over here and a bit more physical but he has adapted to it and is doing well."
