Kilmarnock manager Kenny Shiels has said that the injury crisis that has hit his squad means that Dundee have a “great chance” of dumping them out of the Scottish Cup.

The sides meet at Rugby Park in a replay after drawing 1-1 at Dens Park last week.

Though the SPL side are considered favourites to progress on home turf, Shiels says he is choosing from a limited squad and is wary ahead of the match.

“We have eight players out injured, James Dayton and David Silva have only rank outside chances of making it,” Shiels explained.

"We have two who are ineligible, Ben Gordon and Michael Nelson, and we have let three players go.

"So we are 13 players bereft of what we could have had on January 1.

"I would say that they have a great chance.”

Even without players missing, Shiels insisted that Dundee would give his side a tough game.

"Dundee are a more of an SPL team playing in the First Division and they have proved that,” he said.

"They will be a major threat and we will be on our guard.

"Hopefully we can progress. It is going to be hard but we will be up for it."

Dundee manager Barry Smith said his players could approach the tie with a sense of belief.

"We have been playing well recently in the First Division and we also played well against Kilmarnock in the first game,” he said.

"We will take confidence from a good performance against them in the first game and will give it our best shot."
