St Mirren have had an offer accepted for Hamilton’s Dougie Imrie and the player is having a medical ahead of a possible move.
The Scottish Premier League club had been granted permission to speak to Imrie regarding personal terms and are keen to add the 28-year old to their squad as they bid for a top six place this season.
The player himself has now tweeted: "Away for a medical... Busy time," suggesting that the transfer is close to being completed.
STV has learned that an offer of £35,000 was enough to persuade Hamilton to part with the player.
Dundee United had previously pursued the player and had made a bid of £25,000, which was rejected by Accies. The Tannadice club then announced that they were dropping their interest in the attacking midfielder.
“We had made an offer which we thought was fair,” United chairman Stephen Thompson said.
“Hamilton have chosen to reject the offer as they were perfectly entitled to do.
"We have now withdrawn the initial offer and will not be pursuing this transfer."
English Football league side MK Dons are also rumoured to be interested in signing Imrie.
