Hamilton overturned a two-goal deficit to earn a point against struggling Ayr in a 2-2 draw.
The hosts went ahead after 32 minutes when midfielder Adam Dodd rifled a 30-yard free-kick into the top corner after Alex Neil had fouled Michael McGowan.
They doubled their lead in first-half stoppage time when Edward Malone turned in from close range.
But the visitors fought back just 37 seconds after the restart when Greig Spence supplied the finishing touch to Jon McShane's cross.
And they were back on level terms in the 53rd minute when Neil atoned for his earlier foul by setting up Daniel Redmond to slot home from 12 yards.
Ayr are still two points away from safety having drawn three of their last four games.
