Kallum Higginbotham believes Falkirk are capable of building on their League Cup run to win promotion back to the SPL.

The 22-year-old set up Jay Fulton’s goal in the 3-1 defeat to Celtic at Hampden.

And he says there’s no reason why Steven Pressley’s men can’t mount a late challenge to pip Ross County to the Division One title.

Higgonbotham said: "We are not going to throw the towel in until the last game of the season.

"We have shown we are not that type of team and, while the title is still there to be won, we are fully prepared to go and try to win that title.

"We just need to keep delivering performances like this one and pick up points and hope Ross County start dropping points.

"We put on a good display against the in-form team in Scotland at the moment.

"We are disappointed to be on the losing side but the players and the fans can take a lot of heart from the show we put on, which was good."

Falkirkrecovered to go in level at the break after Scott Brown’s penalty had fired Celtic infront.

However a double from Anthony Stokes ended the Bairns’ hopes and ensured Neil Lennon’s team would face Kilmarnock in the final.

Nevertheless Higginbotham believes Falkirk gave a good account of themselves.

He added: "After we got the goal, we were on top for the last five minutes of the first half.

"When all the boys got into the dressing room at half-time, we thought we could cause an upset.

"We had a few chances at the beginning of the second half and, if one of them had gone in, it would probably have been a different game.

"But we didn't take those chances and Celtic went up the other end and scored, which is disappointing.

"But they have got the top strikers in the country and they just bang goals in for fun."
