Motherwell winger Jamie Murphy has said that he has no regrets about turning down a deadline day move to the English Championship.
The Fir Park club accepted a bid from Blackpool for Murphy on Tuesday but, after considering the offer, the 22-year old decided against making a move.
Murphy told STV that he had opted to remain at his current club and was determined to enjoy the remainder of the season.
“The main thing was that I'm enjoying playing my football here,” he said. “I'm not just going to run away from the SPL because one team makes a bid on the last day of January.
“I'm just looking forward to the rest of the season now and hopefully doing well.”
The winger said that he had not spoken to manager Stuart McCall about the offer but had instead consulted his family before declining the offer to become part of Ian Holloway’s side.
“As soon as I heard it come in I spoke to my mum and dad and we talked about it and discussed it,” he said. “Obviously my mum and dad agreed that the best thing for me was to stay here until at least the end of the season.
“I'm just looking forward to it now.”
Murphy, who has been linked with clubs in the English Premier League as well as the Championship, insisted that the decision had nothing to do with Blackpool’s stature.
“It's not as if I'm holding out for a better team,” he said. “Nothing like that.
“The main thing is that I'm enjoying being here at the moment. In the summer, who knows?
“First and foremost, I was very flattered that a team like Blackpool knew who I was. It's difficult to turn it down but I think that's been a good decision.”
