St Johnstone manager Steve Lomas was content after seeing his team claim a Scottish Cup replay against Hearts despite being down to ten men.

Cillian Sheridan’s 77th minute equaliser ensured the Perth club will get another chance against Paulo Sergio’s side on February 14.

It had looked bleak for Lomas early on after David Templeton fired the Jambos infront.

Things got even worse when defender Dave Mackay was dismissed by referee Craig Thomson for two bookable offences.

However the visitors rallied and found the net when Irishman Sheridan fired a shot into the bottom left corner.

Lomas believes Saints' battling display means they deserve to remain in the competition.

He added: "I thought it was one-way traffic second half until we got the sending off.

"I'm not here to criticise referees, they've got a tough job. I would just like Craig to come out explain how, when somebody's hooking the ball back over his shoulder and he can't see the player coming in, how can that be deemed dangerous play?

"It would have been a travesty of justice if we had gone out of the cup."
