Rangers have officially completed the signing of Daniel Cousin on a deal until the end of the season, subject to an international transfer certificate.
The striker watched from the stands as Ally McCoist's men beat Dunfermline 4-1 at East End Park at the weekend.
But he was prevented from playing as the Scottish FA awaited clearance from Gabon to process his registration.
Cousin, 35, spent a year with Rangers before leaving for Hull in 2008, scoring 13 goals in 44 matches.
The striker could be involved in Saturday's game with Kilmarnock at Ibrox.
A statement on Rangers' official website read: "Rangers have announced that a deal to sign Daniel Cousin has been done - subject to the receipt of an international transfer certificate.
"Cousin spent the 2007/08 season with Rangers and then the first month of the following season's campaign after a £1million move from Lens.
"And he had no hesitation in jumping at the chance to rejoin the Light Blues as they seek to defend the SPL title.
"Cousin jetted into Scotland on Saturday morning and watched the side win 4-1 at Dunfermline.
"He was back at Murray Park this morning where he trained for the first time.
"Now he is just waiting for some paperwork to come through and he will officially become a Rangers player for the second time."
