St Johnstone manager Steve Lomas was happy to pick up a point at Pittodrie, hailing his players for bouncing back from last week’s 5-1 defeat to Dundee United.

The Perth club put their Tayside derby defeat and their Scottish Cup exit to Hearts behind them to hold Aberdeen to a goalless draw.

Saints have only lost two league matches on their travels this term and kept up their fine record with a controlled performance in the Granite City.

 Lomas said: "I think it is a good result when you consider the week we have had, which has been a mental rollercoaster.

"We had a disappointing result to Dundee United and then bounced back against Hearts, only to have it controversially taken away from us with 10 seconds to go.

"It's all credit to the lads to then come to Pittodrie against an Aberdeen team who are on a decent run and get a result.

"It was going to be tough for the lads to pick themselves up but they did that very well.

"It wasn't a classic by any stretch of the imagination. We said before the game if we could get a clean sheet we would win the game and I felt but for a little bit of composure in the final third we would have done that."
