Neil Lennon has said that the possibility of Celtic clinching the Scottish Premier League title at the home of rivals Rangers is “just the way the cookie crumbles” and is against a fixture change.
Following the SPL’s deduction of 10 points from the administration-hit Ibrox club, the likelihood of Celtic winning the title at Ibrox has increased.
That possibility has increased speculation that the match could be rescheduled as Strathclyde Police harbour concerns about possible trouble.
Lennon was keen to stress that games between now and March 25, when the teams are due to meet, could end any prospect of a title decider at Ibrox, but said he did not agree that a change had to be made.
"That's just the way the cookie crumbles,” the Celtic manager said.
"Again, we are not getting ahead of ourselves. We can drop points along the way, Rangers can drop points along the way... I don't know.
"But if that's where we are on the 25th of March we will approach the game and try to win it.
"It's not up to me to make that decision (to move the fixture) but I don't see the reason why the fixture should be changed.”
Lennon said that while he was not keen on seeing the schedule of games altered, his own preference would be to win the title at Celtic Park in any case.
"It's just the way the season has progressed and maybe coincidental that it could be an opportunity for us to win the title [at Ibrox],” he said.
"I wouldn't be overly pleased if they started changing fixtures for the sake of it.
"But I would much rather win it here at Celtic Park in front of our own supporters."
