Craig Brown praises Aberdeen board as he targets more signings

Craig Brown has praised the Aberdeen board for guaranteeing his player budget despite the uncertainty across the SPL.

Brown has been able to swoop for transfer targets like Jonny Hayes and Niall McGinn this summer due to the backing he has received from the Pittodrie board.

The veteran boss said it could have been different and he thanked Stewart Milne and the other top men at the club for their support.

Brown said: “I want to compliment this football club, they have retained the same budget as last year and they said that no matter what happens to Rangers that budget stays the same.”

The Dons manager has more targets and would like to strengthen his defence, with a deal to b ring Mark Reynolds back after a successful loan last season his priority.

That will depend on the player’s availability though, as he will begin pre-season training with his parent club Sheffield Wednesday this month.

Brown said: “We would like to get Mark Reynolds back again but he hopes to try and get into the Sheffield Wednesday team. If that doesn’t happen then maybe Dave Jones the manager will consider a loan or transfer.

“We have been making enquiries for other loan players but I don’t want the fans to be expecting another one automatically. We have a good squad and I want to give an opportunity to the young players.”
