SPL Trivia: 150 SPL appearances and names that would make Stan Lee proud

The great Stan Lee loves an alliterative name, whether it be Peter Parker, Sue Storm, Bruce Banner or Reed Richards.

We do too. In this week's SPL trivia we look at the marvels who have played 150 games in the SPL and whose first name and surname start with the same letter.

There are a couple of contentious ones in the mix this week, but it's up to you if you want to include them or not if you repeat the quiz. We're keeping them in.

The rules we played by meant that we were including the names that players were most commonly known by. There are a couple of players whose real first name wasn't alliterative, but they were only ever known by their shorter alliterative names. You'll see what we mean in the answers...

Alan Archibald

The Partick Thistle defender made a total of 161 appearances in the SPL. 125 of those came in a four year spell at Dundee United, with a further 36 coming for Partick.

Bobo Balde

The first contentious answer. Yes, we know that his full name is Dianbobo, but he was only ever called by the shortened version while at Celtic. Balde made 161 appearances at Celtic in the SPL.

Chris Clark

The Aberdeen midfielder has had two spells at Pittodrie, making 225 appearances. Clark's games were divided between three seasons at Plymouth Argyle.

Darren Dods

This is all running nicely alphabetically, isn't it? Darren Dods has the second highest total on this list, getting 271 appearances for Dundee United, St Johnstone and Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Nacho Novo

The other contentious one. Yes, his first name is actually Ignacio, but as with Balde, he was only ever Nacho Novo in Scottish football. Ignacio, sorry, Nacho made 250 SPL appearances for Rangers and Dundee.

Scott Severin

The Scotland international has more appearances than any other alliterative SPL player. Severin made 347 appearances in the SPL while at Hearts, Aberdeen, Kilmarnock and Dundee United.
