Aberdeen’s Ryan Jack fears the foot injury he picked up on Scotland duty could sideline him for months.

The Scotland Under-21 defender returned to Aberdeen with a foot injury following the side’s friendly against USA in Spain.

X-rays revealed Jack, 20, has broken a bone in the foot and will need an operation to repair the damage.

He has suffered broken bones in his feet twice before, with the most recent one keeping him on the treatment table for 11 months.

The club said they expect the defender to be out until January.

Jack told the Aberdeen Evening Express: “I know this is serious. I have done it before.”

He made his Aberdeen debut in September 2010 and has made more than 60 appearances for the Dons, winning ten Under-21 caps in the process.
