Graham Hunter on the making of FC Barcelona

Few people are more qualified to talk about FC Barcelona than Graham Hunter.

After moving to Barcelona over a decade ago, the Scottish journalist has gained unprecedented access to the Barca first team, including the rare privilege of interviewing Pep Guardiola one on one on two occasions.

With Guardiola's blanket ban on all interviews between Barcelona employees and the media, Graham has a unique insight into life behind closed doors at one of the most successful clubs in the history of football.

In his new book, Barca : The Making of the Greatest Team in the World, Graham charts the steady rise of FC Barcelona from the days of Johan Cruyff, through to Frank Rijkaard, the current Guardiola era and beyond.

During a half hour interview with STV's Lee Roden, Graham talks about the Scottish inspiration behind writing the book. He also gives his thoughts on what Pep Guardiola is really like, and how FC Barcelona morphed from a club ready to loan Andres Iniesta to Rangers, to their current European dominance, by revolutionising their youth system.

Graham reveals the motivation behind Guardiola's decision to axe Ronaldinho and Deco in his first days as Barcelona manager, and how a special bond was formed between the coach and Lionel Messi when Guardiola defied the club in allowing the Argentine to go to the Olympics.

Plus, Graham gives his thoughts on Celtic's current youth strategy, whether the Barcelona model can be exported to Scottish football, and discusses the launch event for the book  to be held at the Arches on the 25th of February.

Barca: The Making of the Greatest Team in the World is out now in ebook format via Back Page Press, and is available in hard copy from February 17th.
