Aberdeen view safe standing technology

Safe standing at Scottish Premier League grounds has moved a step closer to realisation, after a number of clubs viewed the technology being put forward as a viable alternative to seating.

The Safe Standing Roadshow has been touring Scotland this week and was at Aberdeen’s Pittodrie Stadium on Friday.

A number of fans were invited to test out rail seating, with an example of safe standing brought north by the roadshow’s Jon Darch.

"My gut feeling is that every club I have seen this week would like to move in this direction," Darch told STV.

"As long as they can work out how it would fit in their stadium, as long as they can how to fund it, there's no club we have seen this week who have said 'we don't want it, we are not interested'.

"There is a general groundswell of opinion that they want to reflect the fans' wishes - and why not?"
