Celtic will be in Pot Four of the Champions League draw when the group stage places are decided in Monaco on Thursday.

The draw, which STV will cover in full, takes place at 5pm UK time and will see Celtic pitted against three sides with a higher UEFA coefficient.

Celtic’s 4-0 aggregate win over Helsingborg guaranteed them a place in Europe’s premier competition but a combination of results elsewhere could have ensured a kinder draw.

However, though Basel lost to CFR Cluj, Dinamo Kyiv’s aggregate win over Borussia Moenchengladbach meant that Celtic missed out on a place in Pot Three.

Neil Lennon’s side have a good chance of being paired with an English side as trophy holders Chelsea join Manchester United and Arsenal in Pot One while Premier League winners Manchester City are among the sides to avoid from Pot Two.

Braga, who knocked Celtic out of the qualifying rounds in 2010, are also in the second pot after squeaking past Udinese on penalties in their play-off tie.

There could be some long journeys in store with Shahktar Donetsk, Zenit St Petersburg , Dynamo Kyiv and Spartak Moscow all potential opponents.

The team everyone will be keen to avoid in Pot Three will be big spenders Paris St Germain, who have added Thiago Silva, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to their squad this summer.

The draw takes place in Monaco at 5pm and will place a team from each pot in one of eight groups. Teams from the same domestic association cannot be drawn against each other at this stage.

The top two sides in each group progress to the knockout stages while the third-placed team will drop into the Europa League.
