Celtic have announced the signing of Tunisian international Lassad Nouioui on a two-year deal subject to international clearance.

The 26-year-old was a free agent after leaving Deportivo La Coruna and had been heavily linked with Motherwell’s Europa League conquerors Levante.

Speaking after his team’s 2-2 draw with Hibernian, Neil Lennon revealed the player had agreed terms with the club.

The player told the club's official website: "I'm absolutely delighted to sign for Celtic.

"Celtic is a huge club with a magnificent history and a fantastic support. I know all about the wonderful atmosphere at Celtic Park and I can't wait to play there.

"I know that Celtic already has a great squad of players and I'm very much looking forward to joining up with my team-mates. And I hope to play my part in bringing success to the club.

"And, of course, I'm also looking to competing in the UEFA Champions League with such a great football club."

The striker is Celtic’s fifth summer signing after Efe Ambrose, Nicolas Fedor and goalkeepers Fraser Forster and Lubos Kamenar.

Nouioui, who has three caps for his country, scored 14 goals in 33 matches last term in the Spanish Segunda division.

Having been born in Marseille, Nouioui started his career in France with Ajaccio before moving on to Châteauroux.
