Few journalists know Barcelona better than Graham Hunter, and when the Spanish football expert says Celtic have an outside chance of causing an upset, it can only be a boost the hopes of supporters.
Tito Vilanova’s side have to cope with injury and suspension when they kick off against Celtic in their Champions League match on Tuesday evening. The author of Barca: The Making of the Greatest Team in the World believes the absence of Sergio Busquets in Barcelona’s midfield gives hope for Neil Lennon as he plots his best plan of attack.
Unsurprisingly, Lionel Messi is the one to watch and, having developed into a leader of the side, Hunter says Celtic’s midfield have to cut off his supply if they are to have a chance.
Many fans, and the bookmakers, have looked on the match as an enjoyable occasion rather than a source of potential points for Celtic.
Hunter thinks there’s more to the match than that and if Messi can be kept in check then there will be opportunities to take advantage of a makeshift back line and maybe, maybe take a memorable victory from Catalonia.
