Neil Lennon can rely on the not inconsiderable help of Barcelona’s Xavi next month, as Celtic seek to better Benfica’s result in the Camp Nou to make the last 16 of the Champions League.

Hearts have got a friend in Hibs legend and all-round gentleman Lawrie Reilly. The life-long Hibee thinks his fellow supporters should do all they can to help their Edinburgh rivals survive.

Hibs meanwhile will be hoping to get close enough to Wolves manager Stale Solbakken to persuade him to allow goal machine Leigh Griffiths to remain on loan at Easter Road.

Likewise Barry Smith is fluttering his eyelashes in the direction of new Hartlepool boss John Hughes.
