Celtic youngster Dylan McGeouch has said that the Parkhead players believe they can retain the Scottish Cup this season.
After comfortably beating Peterhead on Sunday, Celtic have been drawn to face Inverness or Dunfermline in the fifth round. McGeouch says that it won’t be easy but that the team can go all the way to Hampden victory again this season.
“It’s a tricky game whoever we get next, Inverness or Dunfermline,” he said.
“We’re on a great run just now and I think the players believe that they’re good enough to win the competition so we need to bypass these rounds and make sure we get through.”
Celtic are competing to win all three domestic trophies this season and after closing the gap and then leapfrogging Rangers they now lead the SPL table. McGeouch said that there was no magic formula to success but that manager Neil Lennon had given his players the belief that they could succeed.
“We were a few points behind but we’ve brought it back and Rangers have dropped points,” the player added. “All we’ve done is kept winning games.
“We’re on a good wee run and hopefully we can keep that up, keep winning games and see what happens at the end of the season.
“The manager believed in the players. Every week he said that we can still win the league if we keep winning games.
“That’s how we approach games now. The next one is the most important so we need to keep winning games and see how we get on.”
