Mikael Lustig has vowed to make a bigger impact at Celtic next term after struggling for playing time since his January move.

The Swedish defender has made just five appearances since switching from Rosenborg, having suffered an injury shortly after his arrival.

Lustig tried to push his way into contention in Glasgow having just completed a full season in the Norwegian top flight and admits that hampered his ability to play a major role in his new side’s SPL title success.

“It is a pity I have not got to play regularly,” he told Vasterbottens-Kuriren. “It has been a change for me not to play all of the time.

“I had a long season behind me when I came to Celtic. I have already started to look towards next season.

“I will be injury free and I hope for more playing time then.”

Despite his lack of minutes on the pitch, the player has been named in Sweden's final 23-man squad for the forthcoming European Championships.
