Aiden McGeady has been helping Dundee United with their scouting for their forthcoming Europa League clash with Dynamo Moscow.
The former Celtic winger, who plays for their city rivals Spartak, has passed on info to his former team-mate Michael Gardyne, who is pushing for a starting berth against the Russian next Thursday.
“I spoke to Aiden about Moscow and he told me they are a really good team,” Gardyne told the Scottish Sun.
“The first thing I thought about when the draw was made was I could chat to Aiden and get information from him about Dinamo as he has been in Russia for two years now with Spartak.
“He has been brilliant with the info. I have passed it on and it will certainly add to what the gaffer can dig up on them.
“We think we can win the tie and Aiden also thinks we can go through.”
Dynamo have an expensively assembled squad, including £15m signing Balazs Dzsudzsak.
“There’s no inferiority complex or anything,” Gardyne said of the riches enjoyed by United’s opponents.
“Their spending power is enormous when you hear they can pay £15m for one player and we know the Russian league is strong and full of real quality.
“Aiden also tells me they play nice stuff and get the ball down and pass.
“Despite all that, we will be focusing on our own game plan and I really believe we can get a good result next week.”
