Dundee United new boy Rudi Skacel is focused on playing and is not concentrating on life after his Tannadice deal runs out.
The Czech striker signed on for Peter Houston’s men on Friday until January 30, after spending the summer without a club.
Latterly he trained with his former club Hearts, but after a registration embargo was slapped on the side he won two Scottish Cups with for failure to ay wages on time, he was paraded by the Terrors.
Skacel, who hit 18 goals last season at Tynecastle, admitted he was surprised it took until October to find a new club.
He said: “It was a difficult summer but I’m happy I have a team now. I’m looking forward to getting games and I’m so happy to be part of this organisation.
“I had a good chat with the gaffer and I felt like it would be a good decision to help United and United can help me.
“To be honest yes [I was surprised not to find a club sooner] but football can be a funny business. I doesn’t matter, I have a team now and I will try my best to help United.
“I want to win every game and help my team then we’ll see after these three months.
“I’m focused just now on each game, we have a busy time now over the next two weeks and we’ll sit down at the end of the contract and see how both parties feel.”
Skacel debuted from the bench at St Mirren Park on Saturday as the Arabs won 1-0 and could now feature for the first time at his new home – against his old Hearts teammates in the League Cup quarter final on Wednesday night.
The 33-year-old insists he will approach the tie like any other game and said the aim is clear – Dundee United have to beat Hearts.
Skacel said: “It’s a cup game and it’s against my ex-club so it’s a big game and I would like to play like any match. The most important thing is that we go through.
“It will be strange but it is a big game for us. I’m looking forward and we have to beat Hearts.”
