Jackie McNamara is set to leave Partick Thistle and will be confirmed as Dundee United manager within the next 24 hours.

The former Scotland international will succeed Peter Houston, who left his post at Tannadice earlier this week.

McNamara had been in the frame for the role along with Falkirk manager Steven Pressley and former United player Derek McInnes.

The new United manager's first game in charge will be the Scottish Cup tie against Rangers at Tannadice on Saturday.
