Dundee United have called off a move for Hamilton Academical midfielder Dougie Imrie.

The Scottish Premier League side made a £25,000 offer for the player last week, which has since been rejected by the Lanarkshire club.

Imrie is also attracting interest from St Mirren and MK Dons but United say they have now pulled out of the race to sign the 28-year-old.

“Dundee United confirm they will not be pursuing the signature of Dougie Imrie,” a statement from the club read.

“A bid of £25,000 was rejected by Hamilton and we now consider the matter closed.”

Chairman Stephen Thompson added: “We had made an offer which we thought was fair.

“Hamilton have chosen to reject the offer as they were perfectly entitled to do.

“We have now withdrawn the initial offer and will not be pursuing this transfer.”

Imrie moved to Hamilton from Inverness Caledonian Thistle in January 2010 and has made 78 appearances for the First Division club.
