John Rankin has been showered with praise by Dundee United boss Peter Houston after his display in the 4-0 win over Kilmarnock.
The former Hibernian midfielder scored the third goal of the night for the Terrors, with Jon Daly, Paul Dixon and Scott Robertson also on the scoresheet.
Houston singled out Rankin after his performance, saying he has proven to be an inspired signing since his arrival in the summer.
"I couldn't believe I got him, he typifies the spirit of the guys like Prince Buaben and Morgaro Gomis who moved elsewhere," said Houston.
"Since I arrived at the club six years ago, the Dundee United midfield has been all about players who get in your face. John is exactly that type of player.
"His attitude is brilliant and he has settled in well, he's been a great player for us.
"I wouldn't be surprised to see him win a lot of the supporters' awards at the end of the season as he has been consistent throughout."
The dismissal of Liam Kelly led to Dundee United’s opener, with Daly scoring from the penalty spot ten minutes into the second half.
A fine, 30-yard strike from Dixon then put the home side further in front, before Rankin added the third with 20 minutes remaining.
Robertson then rounded off United’s display with the fourth with six minutes to go, much to the delight of his boss.
"We scored some great goals and it was very pleasing to see," Houston added.
"Those are the type of goals we score, during the match Paul Dixon hit the post and John Rankin forced a few good saves from Cammy Bell."
