Dunfermline boss slams 'shambles' as his club remain in league limbo

Dunfermline boss Jim Jefferies thinks it is “ludicrous” that his team still has no indication of what league it will play in next season and described the delay in a decision as a "shambles".

The Pars, relegated from the top league last season, could be elevated back up to the SPL if Rangers newco are denied a transfer of membership to compete there next season.

With no decision made on Rangers, or whether Dunfermline or Dundee could replace them, Jefferies wishes something could have been done sooner as his squad remains in limbo.

He said: “Nobody ever anticipated this happening and it should have been sorted out months before this.

“It has got gradually worse and now it’s very, very difficult to sort out. It’s a shambles.”

Jefferies believes that a league reconstruction model could have been agreed during the season to foresee the financial implosion of Rangers and minimise the effects on other clubs.

Now sporting integrity in the Scottish game will come under intense scrutiny of the system is adapted to ensure the Glasgow club are brought back to the top league as soon as possible.

Jefferies added: “I’m sure everybody would have been open to a new set-up and we could have made changes. It could have not got to this stage.

“It needs to be sorted out quickly so we can find out what league [Rangers] are in because this is getting ludicrous.”
