The Scottish Premier League have announced that Dundee will play in the top flight next season as replacements for Rangers.
In a statement, an SPL spokesperson said: "It was agreed that Dundee FC would be invited to fill the space vacated by Rangers FC in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.
"It was agreed that the SPL would work with the Scottish FA, SFL and Rangers to facilitate Rangers FC taking their place in SFL Division 3 this season."
The Dens Park club finished 24 points behind Ross County in the First Division last season finishing on 55 points.
At the weekend, Dundee chief executive Scot Gardiner called for clarity over the decision, adding that he hadn't spoken to Neil Doncaster over the matter.
Barry Smith's side have already added Carl Finnigan, John Baird, Iain Davidson and Declan Gallagher to their squad this summer.
